The Friends of St Andrew’s Alfriston (“the Friends”) is an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“CIO”) registered with the Charity Commission number: 1199268. A CIO enables a charity to incorporate to gain the benefits available to companies without the burden of dual regulation by the Charity Commission and Companies House. The Charity Commission has sole responsibility for a CIO’s formation, registration and administration.

The Friends is also approved by HMRC as a CIO for tax purposes. Donations received after 13th June 2022 are eligible for the Gift Aid scheme. Click here to download our Donor Gift Aid form.

The Trustees

The Friends’ Board of Trustees (“the Board”) is the overall governing board for the charity. It is an independent board which oversees, scrutinises and guides the charity’s activities and makes decisions where appropriate to ensure good governance. The Board is ultimately responsible for deciding which projects for the preservation or enhancement of St Andrew’s Church are to be supported financially with the Friends’ funds, mindful that all projects need to be approved by the Alfriston PCC and where necessary the Diocese of Chichester.

The aim is to recruit a Board which represents the both demographic and diversity of the local community and visitors who all benefit from the building as a place or worship and cultural amenity.

The founding trustees are:

Anthony Tallents Davy (Chair)

Carol Hodson

Geoffrey Ellis

Rev Stephen Stuckes
